You can now streamline the Contactless Check-in process by allowing users to skip check-in questions and enabling QR codes to launch your app's check-in flow, directly from a device's camera or third-party scanning app.
Overview
With this update, you can make the Contactless Check-in faster and more convenient for your clients. Business owners can configure the check-in flow to skip the usual set of questions, letting clients scan a QR code and be checked in instantly. Additionally, QR codes can now be enhanced with deep links that allow users to start the check-in process directly from their camera app or a third-party QR scanner, without needing to manually open your app first.
Use Cases
- Simplified check-in experience: Studios can enable contactless check-in without requiring clients to answer questions, speeding up the process.
- App-initiated check-ins from QR codes: Once Configured, Clients can scan QR codes using their phone's camera or any QR code app, which will invoke the check-in flow in your branded Hapana app.
Important Notes
- Deeplink configuration required: If deep links are not set up in Hapana ahead of your intent to roll this feature out, an error will display when trying to enable the deeplinked QR code option. Please contact [email protected] to complete the setup.
- Default setup remains unchanged: Upon rolling out this update, the new toggles for skipping questions and generating deep-linked QR codes will be off by default. Users will need to actively configure these options.
How to Set Up the Contactless Check In with QR Code Scanning Feature.
Items 1 and 2 below are mutually exclusive and do not need to be configured together.
Enable Contactless Check-in Without Questions
- Log in to core.hapana.com > Edit Profile > Business Profile > Contactless Check-in.
- Toggle the Contactless Check-in option to ON.
- A new sub-option will appear: Skip Check-in Questions.
- Toggle the Skip Check-in Questions option to ON.
- This will disable the requirement for question-and-answer configuration.
- The Configure Fields option will be greyed out, meaning no questions will be required.
- Policies can still be configured as before.
Note: If this toggle is OFF, the default behaviour will remain, and you can still configure check-in questions and answers. The release of these new feature will NOT disrupt or change your current workflow of Contactless Check-in. Make changes only a desired.
2. Create a QR Code with Deeplink for Seamless App Check-ins
This feature allows clients to scan QR codes with their camera app or third-party QR scanning apps, which will directly launch the check-in flow within your branded app. Use of this new setting will require you to reprint and post the newly created QR code within your facility immediately upon making the following Core configuration changes.
- Log in to core.hapana.com > Edit Profile > Business Profile > Contactless Check-in.
- Look for the new sub-option: Create QR Code with Deeplink.
- Toggle the Create QR Code with Deeplink option to ON.
- This will check if your deep link keys are configured for your brand.
- If no deep link configuration is present, an error message will appear: “Deeplink configuration is required. Please contact support for assistance.”
- If you see this message toggle this setting back off and open a ticket with [email protected] for setup on the Hapana side. When you are told the deeplinking is set, please repeat from Step One above.
- This will check if your deep link keys are configured for your brand.
- If your deep link keys are properly set, a new QR code will be generated.
- This QR code can now be scanned by clients using their device’s camera or any QR scanning app. It will automatically invoke your app and launch the Contactless Check-in flow. Please post the new QR Code where clients can scan as quickly as possible following the configuration of this feature.

Important: When this toggle is OFF, the system will use the default QR code, which requires users to open your app manually and navigate to the Contactless Check-in screen to scan the code.
For App Users | Using the Contactless Check-in
- Locate the QR code displayed at the business location.
- Open your camera app or a third-party QR scanning app.
- Point the camera at the QR code.
- If the studio has configured a deep-linked QR code, your device will automatically launch the studio’s branded app and take you directly to the Contactless Check-in screen.
- No need to manually open the app or navigate to the check-in screen.
