Client Authentication for Private Training Sessions

Ensure the authenticity of private training sessions with two-part authentication, reducing the risk of misuse and improving accountability.

Overview

We’ve introduced a feature that when configured will require members to authenticate their participation in private training sessions. Now, when a client checks in for a configured two part Authentication session, they will receive an Authentication Alert via push notification or SMS, prompting them to confirm that the session was completed. This not only ensures that services are rendered but also provides peace of mind to business owners by minimizing potential fraud or misuse of session credits.

Use Cases

  • Automated Session Validation: Automatically log sessions as completed once a client confirms their attendance via an Authentication Alert.
  • Customizable Alerts: Configure Authentication Alerts to be delivered through push notifications, SMS, or both.
  • Payroll Accuracy: Ensure payroll reflects only authenticated sessions, helping managers make informed decisions.
  • Client Control: Allow clients to accept or decline authentication requests, providing transparency and control over their session usage.

Dependencies

  • Schedule Templates
  • Notifications
  • Reports
  • Default Setting: The two-part authentication is set to "No" by default, requiring manual configuration to activate.

Set Up and Usage

  • Configuration of the Session template.
    • In session templates, there is a toggle to activate '2 Part Authentication' for all sessions created with that template.
    • User needs to select 'Yes' to activate the template in question, for 2 Part Authentication.

  • When sessions are booked with this session template the system will require 2 part authentication by the client, during the Check-in process.
    • When a session is marked “attended”, Core will send a push notification or SMS to the client.
    • Note: Sessions are marked “attended” via several pathways including but not limited to:
      1. Kiosk Check-in.
      2. Contactless Check-in within 2 hours of the session start time
      3.  Barcode scanning check-in within 2 hours of the session start time
      4.  V2 Core Check-In of the client within 2 hours of the session start time
      5. Core > Schedule > Session Detail screen > Attendance check box
      • All possible check-in paths will activate the core service to send the 2 Part authentication notice to the client.

  • When a client clicks on the push notification or SMS, a deep link will redirect them to the app Home screen, where a 2 part authentication interface will be presented.
    • The client must choose 'Approve' or 'Deny,' there is no ability to dismiss without choosing one.
    • If clients dismiss or does not see the SMS or push notification, the app will present the authentication dialogue on the home screen.
    • Swipe down on home screen to refresh your app at any time if the notification is not immediately visible.

  • If a client declines the 2 part authentication, the session will be unmarked as “unattended “ in Core.
    • Core will display a declined marker.

  • If a client approves the 2 part authentication then the session will remain as “attended” and a successful authentication message will appear.

  • Status Messages will display based on the outcome of the authentication.
    • A green message will appear if the session was authorized - “ Client has authenticated Check-in.”
    • An orange message will appear if the auth status is Pending - “Authentication is Pending.”
    • A red message will appear if the session was declined for authorization - “ Client declined check-in authorization.”
    • No message will appear for sessions not configured for authentication.

  • Reports > Check-ins will have an additional column for Approved Authentication sessions
