Overview
This feature allows studio/gym owners to create and manage promo codes with two distinct behaviors:

1. A one-off discount on an initial payment OR;
2. An ongoing discount for recurring payments.

Having these two options provides more flexibility in promotional campaigns. 

Use Scenario | One-off Promo Code

A Studio wants to offer a one-time discount for a holiday event, after which the regular payment amount will resume. 
 

Use Case
As a Gym Manager, I need to create a promo code for an upcoming holiday event. This promo code will enable a special one-off discount. Following the initial discount, the package should continue at the regular payment rate, ensuring that members are charged the standard rate post-promotion.

Use Scenario | Ongoing Promo Code:

A studio wants to offer a recurring discount on a member's recurring membership payments.

Use Case
As a Gym Manager, I need to create a promo code that provides a recurring discount, ensuring that all subsequent payments are billed at the promo rate, and not the regular rate.

Current State

Prior to this feature update promo code usage occurred at the time of a Membership sale and affected both the initial and all recurring payments. 

New State
Two Toggled Options

1. Discount Initial Invoice Only

• All membership sales utilising this promo code option will have a discount to the first invoice.
• Subsequent recurring/scheduled invoice amounts will remain at the regular price.
• Package renewals will not be discounted, even if the initial invoice was.

2. Ongoing Discounts for Recurring Membership Payments

• All invoices for the membership are reduced in price, accordingly to the promo code.
• This is the default setting for the rollout of this feature.

Additional Notes

• Users can only select one of these settings, not both.
• Retroactive Changes: If a user edits this setting, it will not retroactively apply to past uses of the promo code. Only future uses of the promo code will follow the new selection.

Enabling this Feature: 

• Navigate to Core > Payments > Retail Settings > Promo Codes.
• By default all Promo Codes are set to Ongoing discounts, including your already configured promo codes, as this is the "past state" of promo codes.
• If you wish to change to the 'Discount Initial Invoice' option > Change the available toggle to 'Discount Initial Invoice Only' so that all recurring invoices will be billed at membership configured pricing.
